While you might have held an officer position before, being president of an organization for the first time can be both exciting and daunting. Come network with other new presidents to share perspectives and gain new ideas to help you be successful in your new role within your organization.

Learn how you can use various online, digital, and print platforms on campus to connect with the University community and outside media. Plus, get informed on effective and not-so-effective strategies to employ, resources available to you, and what you can really do with Rocky the yellowjacket mascot.

When was the last time you talked about sexual misconduct? Was it in orientation? How long ago was that, and what do you remember about it? Does it feel like it was a lifetime ago?! Was it all just a blur?! Do you have some questions that would be helpful to unpack? Revisit and expand on your sexual misconduct training from your first year by discussing how you can be leaders in preventing sexual assault and promoting a safe, consensual environment for yourself, friends, and community. Its on all of us to prevent sexual assault at the University of Rochester.

There are real struggles to delegating effectively and implementing accountability. This session will peel away barriers of restrictive thinking and reasoning to find success in your ability to delegate and implement accountability successfully.

Leadership is not just about holding a position. It is more about navigating through a process that results in some kind of change. This interactive workshop focuses on leadership concepts, perspectives and viewpoints. It provides you with the opportunity to develop and enhance a personal philosophy of leadership which is necessary for you to become effective contributors to your organization(s).

During this session you will complete the Leadership Practices Inventory to understand your unique leadership style and how it can benefit your organization. We’ll also discuss how leaders work collaboratively to help a group succeed.

Safe Zone at the University of Rochester is a dynamic, interactive session for students that includes activities and discussion around: inclusive and respectful language, the process of coming out, understanding sexual and gender identity, taking action on our campuses and in our workplaces, where to go for help and much more. These trainings are for students, presented by their peers, and gives participants the skills they need to provide support and to create environments that are safe, welcoming, and inclusive.

In this session student leaders will re-frame the concept of networking to effectively build and maintain relationships with alumni of their organization(s). Students will learn about resources available through the Greene Center, and apply alumni outreach strategies to enhance the career exploration and preparation of their own organization's members.

This session will cover concepts including reciprocity, mutual benefit, community partner selection and management, and community empowerment. Student organizations that frequently engage with the community should go about it with an informed and sensitive approach

Whether or not we realize it, the effectiveness and success of student organizations on campus is--in large part--an issue of motivation. In this breakout session you'll learn about motivation in organizational contexts..

In this sessions student leaders will learn ways to connected with their organization’s alumni. Alumni Relations will review their Get Connected program, and students will learn all the ways in which Alumni Relations can help them connect with their alumni.

This session will go over where to start and how to navigate the basic responsibilities of your role. This session will also provide you with a chance to connect with veteran leaders on how they succeed.

This interactive session will help you plan and lead effective meetings, keep your discussions on target, encourage cooperation, and accomplish your action items. This workshop will briefly introduce you to issues and concerns that you should be aware of as you lead student groups on a religiously and culturally diverse campus. We will discuss the concepts of bridged and bonded social capital, and what it means to be a leader in a religiously pluralistic environment. We will identify key areas of concern as you plan and execute events on campus where interfaith literacy is important to the success of your work. This workshop offers important leadership tools even for those leaders who do not consider themselves religious and for groups that are engaged in secular programming and activities.

So you know all about the Event Registration process and feel confident with the resources for programming, however attendance is low, your organization does the same thing over and over or has no annual events, in this session you will engage with others on what can you do to make a bigger impact on the campus community.

You have members in your organization, great, now it's time to take it to the next level. In this workshop we will talk about the layers of membership and how to identify where members are to create strategies for their growth. From this connection with your members you can harness their leadership for your organization in transformational ways. This workshops is geared towards students who hold an officer position in a student organization.

This session will lead you through the dos and don’ts of club sports. We will review areas of the club sports manual, talk paperwork needs, and go over expectations for the year. Our goal will be to get everyone on the same page in an effort to continue to expand and grow Club Sports.

This breakout session will feature several interactive teambuilding activities accompanied by a conversation about the importance of working cohesively within an organization. Participants will learn about effective communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution.

Intercultural awareness is the foundation of communication and involves the ability to self-reflect and become aware of our cultural values, beliefs, and perceptions. Intercultural awareness becomes central when you have to interact with people who differ from yourself. This workshop explores the interplay of language, communication, and culture in interpersonal interactions, providing participants with an overview of the basic principles of intercultural communication.

Do you set goals for yourself but never reach them? Does your group, team, or organization feel stalled or as if you’re not sure you're accomplishing what you set out to? In this session you’ll learn how to set SMART goals for you or your organization that will lead to ever better results!

During this hour together we will explore: (1) how trust and creativity relate to conflict; (2) the costs of unresolved conflict; and (3) two frameworks for resolving conflict with self and others.

This session is designed to provide a demonstrable overview for the use of technology for individuals, small groups, and larger organizations. Its purpose is to provide a breadth of physical and theoretical tools for emerging leaders to stay (become) organized, task focused, and progression drive. Its focus will be on web based technologies for time, people, and project management as enhancements to self-reflection and motivation.

MANDATORY comprehensive training on the appropriate use of SA funding and the process for accessing funds in the Student Organization Finance Office (SOFO). Training must be attended by the E-Board member that functions as a Business Manager for a student organization that: receives a budget from the Students’ Association Appropriation Committee (SAAC), intends to seek funding from SAAC or has an established account in SOFO. Topics include but are not limited to: SAAC Polices & Procedures, purchasing methods, form types, Student Accountant assignments and updates from previous year.
